A February getaway to Florida does the heart, soul and body good! We’ve been walking in the cool of the morning, strolling lamp lit streets on balmy evenings, and swimming laps under the hot afternoon sun just so we can have a special reward — strawberry shortcake at Parkesdale Farm Market in Plant City. Yum. Fortunately, it’s a good little drive to Plant City from Sebring so Tom and I only make the trek once per visit south. However, if we stayed longer I think we’d be inclined to indulge once per week.
It’s become tradition…meeting up with Barney and Diana, friends from back home, traveling together to Plant City, chatting and laughing while
stuffing our faces — er, I mean, satisfying our collective sweet tooth(s) with shortcake, berries, and ice cream topped with loads of whipped cream.
Aside from the good eats, it really is amazing to enjoy this kind of fabulous weather in the middle of February. We were lucky enough to have chosen the sunniest, warmest string of days Floridians had seen all month. The sights (flowers and sunshine), the sounds (birds singing), the feel of grass under foot, and fragrances (hibiscus blooms) wafting on warm breezes…it’s like a taste of heaven. Which reminds me…
Sarah Young has been speaking to me this week in her devotional book Jesus Calling. Indeed, our Lord calls us (me) to come to Him, reminds me that He is with me always, encourages me to live in trust and practice thankfulness, putting all criticizing and complaining away for ever and always. But for that I need His help daily, moment by moment. Living — continually aware of His presence — I can endure all that comes my way without stumbling or falling. So yes, I will be still in the Light of His Presence and I will bask in His unlimited love. Understanding His love for me, I can love others more completely. (That sums up a few days of short messages from God through Sarah Young).

Speaking of love…don’t you just love flowers, sunshine and strawberry shortcake?
And a beautifully set table…what’s not to love about that?
But, people are by far the best to love…
